in 2007, ABC unveiled a unique and surprising television series as part of their line-up — “Pushing Daisies.”

Revolving around the life of Ned the Piemaker (Lee Pace) and his knack for resurrecting the dead, the show received substantial critical acclaim for its smooshing of colorful visuals, wacky concepts and absurd amounts of pie in what can only be described as a work of creative genius.

However, as a casualty of the industry-wide strike of the Writers Guild of America, the show came to an abrupt end and after a storming nine episodes promised a strong second season.

Alas, through declining ratings and a degree of critical backlash to some creative choices in its second year, the series was axed from schedules and has never been seen again … until now. TV Guide has confirmed that ABC will finally air the last three episodes of the show beginning May 30, just in time for its DVD release on July 21.

Once the series ends, the network will then parade the remaining episodes of its other deceased shows, including Eli Stone (which has a similar “dramedy” approach to “Pushing Daisies”) and also “Dirty Sexy Money.”

The death of “Pushing Daisies” came as the first solid dent to the genre this season, with others expected to follow. NBC’s “Kings” now faces imminent doom and Fox’s “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” is expected to wrap up following its second season finale this month, however rumors are currently circulating that its producing studio, Warner Bros., might be able to give the show another chance as part of its marketing strategy for its upcoming “Terminator Salvation” trilogy.
